Inspiration

Between the solemnity of ebony and the luminous transparency of glass, this piece seeks a balance of life’s energy. The bold metallic lines represent cosmic order and rationality, while the flowing mother-of-pearl inlays and swimming fish symbolize the sensuous and ceaseless pulse of life. The moment light penetrates the glass, cold matter blends with the rhythms of nature, allowing the viewer to sense, amidst the interplay of light and shadow, the silent awe that gives birth to all things.

Appreciation

Set against a base of rare ebony, this work combines mother-of-pearl inlay, geometric aluminum alloy weaving, and natural glass craftsmanship. The artist transforms geometric lines into beams of energy, imbuing the emerald-colored glass stone backlit from above with the symbolism of the source of life. Surrounded by swimming fish above, natural mother-of-pearl fragments cascade down from the center like a waterfall in the vast ocean, creating rich layers that reveal the vast, flowing vitality of the universe even in stillness.
