Inspiration

In Eastern legend, the cat—having missed the banquet of the twelve zodiac animals—became the guardian of the night, choosing solitude over worldly company, keeping company only with the moon.

Appreciation

The work uses hard, deep-hued ebony as its foundation. At the top, a warm, translucent chalcedony is inlaid, surrounded by aluminum wire tracing auspicious cloud patterns—like a pure moon suspended among the clouds.
